An internship is an
excellent way to gain real-world experience while still a
student at Penn State. A current student may enroll in up to
six credits while enrolled in the internship (AG BM 495A; AG
BM 495B is reserved for international internships and can be
taken for up to six credits).
If you are
interested in doing an internship, please speak with your
faculty advisor or with the Agricultural Economics and Rural
Sociology Internship Coordinator. Your advisor can help you
by providing a professional recommendation, while the
Internship Coordinator can help provide ideas and assistance
in applying for an internship opportunity.

The Environmental and Renewable Resource Economics major
prepares students to analyze environmental and resource
problems, and to evaluate alternative solutions to these
problems using the methods, concepts, and techniques of
environmental and natural resource economics. Students take
courses designed to provide:

A firm
understanding of environmental and natural resource
economics; |
 |
Familiarity
with biological and physical sciences; |
 |
An opportunity
to pursue additional environmental social sciences
such as sociology, history, or philosophy; |
 |
Knowledge of
political processes, laws, and regulations affecting
the environment; and, |
 |
Ability to
communicate effectively about environmental and
renewable resource issues. |
Recent graduates
of the ERRE major have found positions:

environmental policy analyst for an international
nonprofit organization |
 |
in a private
company that designs environmentally-friendly
equipment for restoring buildings |
 |
in an
international environmental advocacy organization |
 |
as a water
specialist for the Pennsylvania Department of

Associate at the Environmental Protection Agency |
Other graduates have
gone on to graduate school, law school, and found positions
around the world in the Peace Corps.
